Curiosity is what drives style for me. Through nature, memory, dreams, and the moment at hand, I like to create stories, works of fiction that can be interpreted by the beholder. In nature, everything is connected, the great circle of life and death. Similarly, in creating art, ideas I begin with will go full circle with the final strokes eventually joining the first strokes.
With practice, memory becomes a powerful source of inspiration. Remembering dreams, despite how accurately recalled, bring intuition into play and can jump start a painting or drawing. The end result is a pleasant surprise, a story that changes with time.
Having been a self-taught builder, carpenter, most of my life, problem solving skills play into how I interpret and design, color, and composition. These problem-solving techniques guide me through a process that works as well for art as for carpentry. My intention is that the art opens a window for the viewer’s creative imagination; broadening their view of the interconnected world we share.
